QuizIf you want to host a live quiz without creating an account, QuizLlama is a free Kahoot alternative worth trying. You can host up to 30 players without signing in. For a larger group, free Google sign-in raises the limit to 100. Everyone answers on their own phone while you run the quiz on a shared screen.

No sign-up for whom: the host or the players?
That distinction matters. Kahoot says participants do not need an account to join a game. If your only concern is making guests register, you may already have a suitable setup.
QuizLlama also lets the organizer create and host without an account. An anonymously created quiz has a private edit link; bookmark it so you can return to it. Optional Google sign-in puts your quizzes under My quizzes. Share the player join page and game PIN with guests, rather than your private edit link.
A Kahoot alternative for more than ten players
Kahoot's personal-use FAQ lists free hosting for up to ten players. That is not a universal limit for every Kahoot account: education, personal and professional offerings differ. Check the participant allowance shown for the account you will actually use.
For a 12-person birthday quiz, QuizLlama's 30-player anonymous limit leaves room for everyone. For a 60-person gathering, the host needs to sign in with Google before hosting to use the 100-player allowance. Neither example requires players to create QuizLlama accounts. These are participant limits, not a promise that your venue's Wi-Fi can support every device: try the setup on the network you will use.
Set up a quiz without starting from scratch
- Open the quiz-night packs and choose an occasion. Each pack has 15 questions with answers you can preview.
- Choose Customize if you want to change the questions, or Host this quiz to use the pack as it stands.
- Put the host screen on a TV or projector. Ask players to open QuizLlama and enter the game PIN.
- Let everyone join before starting. Read the questions aloud if that helps your group follow along.
For a seasonal event, start with the Halloween quiz or Thanksgiving quiz. For a different subject, browse the question bank. You can also import a CSV or XLSX file through the homepage's Create your own quiz section; download the template there instead of assuming another tool's export will import unchanged.
When to keep your existing setup
If you already have a Kahoot quiz that works for your group and your account supports the guest count, switching may add unnecessary preparation. Try one QuizLlama round before moving a whole event.
