Quizizz is now Wayground
If you searched for a Quizizz alternative, the product you are comparing is now called Wayground. Its official account guide identifies the former Quizizz name. Keeping both names in mind helps when following older instructions or looking for an existing resource.
Do students actually need accounts?
Do not assume every Wayground activity requires student sign-in. Requirements depend on the workflow and settings. For example, its homework attempt settings allow participation without logging in when attempts are Unlimited; restricting the number of attempts requires students to log in. If that setting solves your problem, you may not need to change tools.
In QuizLlama's live games, players join using the game PIN and a nickname. There is no student roster to create first. Account-free joining is useful for a mixed group of visitors, friends or club members who do not share a school login. It should not be confused with a claim that no data is processed: read the privacy policy and follow your institution's requirements before using a service with students.
A live game and a homework assignment serve different purposes
Wayground provides reports for live and assigned sessions, including accuracy and completion information. Its Classes feature organizes students and assignments. If those are central to your teaching, evaluate them before replacing your workflow.
QuizLlama's focus is a host-led quiz with timed answers and a leaderboard. Points reward correct answers and speed, so the game score is not simply a percentage-correct grade. Use it as a group activity; do not treat the scoreboard as a substitute for an assessment report. Solo practice is available, but this comparison makes no claim of equivalent homework tracking or gradebook integration.
Try a small review round first
- Choose a topic from the question bank, or write a short set of questions in the quiz builder.
- Review every answer and remove topics your group has not covered. Preview any images on the screen you plan to use.
- Run a few questions with a second device before the session, using the same network as your players.
- During the game, discuss why the correct answer is right instead of treating speed alone as success.
